Dr. Karen Frangos is a gifted healer and teacher who works together with her patients to help them achieve optimal health using natural remedies and hands-on care.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1983 from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was also co-Captain of the Women’s Tennis Team. After working in acute care hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, Karen established a private practice within Longfellow Tennis and Fitness Club in Wayland, Massachusetts from 1986 to 1993. There, she developed expertise in Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Rehabilitation, including therapeutic water exercise, manual therapy and functional training for rehabilitation of orthopedic and sports injury complaints. Many of her patients were professional athletes from around the world, including elite runners of the Boston Marathon and members of the Boston Celtics.

After earning her doctoral degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon in 1997, Dr. Frangos completed two years of Family Practice Residency and began teaching Therapeutic Exercise to fourth year medical students at NCNM. She also held a faculty position with the Center for Traditional Medicine, facilitating workshops and providing medical care in a rural, coastal Mexican village. Beginning Fall 2003, after a three-year hiatus from NCNM, Dr. Frangos was reappointed as an adjunct faculty member where she is teaching Naturopathic Manipulative Therapy to third and fourth year students.

Dr. Frangos returned to private practice in 1999, dba Naturopathic Body Works, LLC, pursuing her passions in natural Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Clinical Nutrition, and Women’s Health. Her patients include mostly adults with conditions ranging from Arthritis to Zoster. Some unique services offered include fitness testing, with a special interest in pre-season athletic screening; natural Osteoporosis prevention and treatment programs; “Live Right 4 Your Type” nutritional consulting; and non-steroidal injection therapy for patients with chronic joint and/or muscle pain.

Dr. Frangos is proud to welcome two massage therapists to her practice!

Lynn Short, LMT

Lynn Short trained at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Boulder, Colorado. There she studied Shiatsu, Swedish, Sport and Orthopedic massage techniques. Her extensive training in Boulder put her in contact with many athletes who go there to train at elevation. She also had the opportunity to work with runners participating in the Boulder Backroads Marathon, Proctor and Gamble’s elite women’s cycling team, and worked in the Colorado University Sport Massage clinic.  Her primary focus is in Sport, Deep Tissue, and Strain/ Counter Strain (an orthopedic technique). From personal experience with her own injuries Lynn knows the importance of physical maintenance of the body and following a therapy regimen to maximize its fullest potential. “I want to play an active part in helping people feel better and to heal.” In her spare time Lynn and her husband enjoy cycling and snowboarding.

Cameron Reinlasoder, LMT

Cameron is a graduate of the Montana School of Massage. Since moving to Portland in 2002 he has been practicing his own unique form of relaxing and therapeutic massage. Through his keen sense of tissue palpation, Cam skillfully locates areas of chronic pain and discomfort and applies appropriate deep tissue and trigger point work.  “A common misconception people have is that deep tissue body work has to be painful. It should not be painful. It may be a little uncomfortable for a few seconds, but oftentimes I find that my clients will release any discomfort and fall into deep relaxation.”   Cam suggests that massage be an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. To aide the novice or veteran athlete in their training, Cam offers pre and post event sports massage. This brisk treatment helps the body in optimizing its ability to energize and heal itself more rapidly. Sports massage may be done fully clothed, and the therapeutic touch consists of compression, light and direct pressure, and the jostling of muscle tissue rather than long, gliding strokes.   Cam is currently a student and loves playing guitar and music. In his time off he can be found enjoying the art, history and people of Portland. Cam lives in southeast Portland with his roommates, two bunnies, and a lot of musical equipment.
